Frank Sinatra shocks MDA Telethon host Jerry Lewis with a surprise guest - the one and only Dean Martin! Take a look at this classic MDA Telethon moment from 1976.
Here's the only snippet known to exist from the Jan 24, 1954 episode with Martin and Lewis, probably the single "most wanted" lost episode of WML (along with the Jul 31, 1955 episode with Ty Cobb. I think I'd vote for the 1951 show with Chico, or the Sept 25, 1955 episoe with Jackie Gleason in costume as Ralph Kramden!) This clip comes from the "WML at 25" special aired in 1975; the presumption over the years has been that the film of the full episode was damaged in the process of using it for the special, but we don't really know that to be the case.
Unlike most of the 100 or so lost episodes, there's good reason to believe that this one will turn up one day, thanks to Jerry Lewis's known mania for self-documenting every aspect of his career. It wouldn't be at all surprising if he requested a copy of the show for his own archive.
Unfortunately, even if this is the case, his materials were donated to the Library of Congress in 2015, and nothing gets out of the Library of Congress. But it would still be nice to know if it's there. . .

Way Way Out
As performed in "The Caddy."
As first performed in "The Caddy." (Dean Martin's first big hit.)
United States Army Corporal Chick Allen is a paratrooper preparing a show with other soldiers. The general, however, was unhappy with the quality of past shows and is threatening to eliminate them unless the quality improves, which is why Chick has invited his former partner, Hap Smith, to help out.
Hap, who has continued their nightclub act with a new partner, Betsy Carter, poses as a soldier so that he can do one performance with the general in the audience. The show impresses the general so much that he arranges for the show (including Hap) to tour other camps. Fearing a court-martial, Chick and the rest of the performers pass Hap off as Private "Dogface" Dolan, while the real "Dogface" goes into hiding.
Hap undergoes paratrooper training to keep up the ruse, but he is very accident prone. However, it works to his benefit as everything he does inadvertently is the "correct military conduct". The top sergeant takes notice and praises him.
Understandably, Hap wants to return to civilian life and tries to sneak away at any chance he can get, but Chick always manages to stop him. During one of his escape attempts, during some war maneuvers, Hap destroys a key bridge and captures an enemy general. Hap is eventually exposed as a civilian, but is sworn in as a paratrooper and becomes a hero.

Discussion with TCM's Ben Mankiewicz.
Jerry Lewis is a goof, but a pretty good dancer! It takes a bit of skill to balance goofy gestures, accuracy and rhythm simultaneously!
An underrated Jerry Lewis Comedy Masterpiece Movie.

Jumping Jacks I American Comedy Film 1952 I Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Mona Freeman
When former business & nightclub partners Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis enlist in the U.S. Army, (in their first starring film ) they have different ambitions. Martin wants to see action rather than the drudgery of his current post. Lewis, who is a klutz, wants to stay out of combat. However, they both have to deal with stern Army personnel while also preparing for an Army variety show. A laugh riot!
Boxing match jerry lewis from the movie Sailor Beware (1952)
One of my funniest scenes from this movie.
This is entertainment.
Little detail: The heavyweight boxer Jerry fights is Eddie Simms (age 42 yrs in 1952)
He was a heavyweight fighter who had 100 pro fights from 1930-1949.
He even fought Joe Louis in 1936.

One of Jerry Lewis’ children is speaking out about being cut out of his father’s will after the comedy legend passed away over the summer. “It was putting the knife in and turning it,” Anthony Lewis told Inside Edition. After Jerry Lewis died, news spread that all five of his surviving sons would be disinherited. They would not be left a penny of his estimated $50 million estate. “I was not surprised dad cut me out, but it shocked me that he cut out his grandkids,” Anthony said. #InsideEdition

The picture was filmed from April 16 to June 19, 1956 and released on December 6, 1956 by Paramount Pictures, almost five months after the Martin and Lewis partnership split up.Malcolm Smith (Jerry Lewis) wins a brand new automobile at a raffle. Steve Wiley (Dean Martin), a gambler from New York, obtains a counterfeit of the winning ticket and also claims that the car is his. The raffle's manager declares them both winners and that they can split the car any way that they want. Steve wants to sell the car, but Malcolm wants to drive it to Hollywood to meet actress Anita Ekberg.
Steve claims to know her and agrees to drive to Hollywood with Malcolm, secretly planning to steal the car. Malcolm brings along his dog, a huge Great Dane named Mr. Bascomb who foils Steve in his many attempts to make off with the car.
Along the way they pick up Terry (Pat Crowley), an aspiring dancer, who has a job waiting for her in Las Vegas. Once there, Malcolm gets his "lucky feeling" and wins $10,000 at a casino. In addition, the woman of his dreams, Anita Ekberg, is also at the hotel and Malcolm finally gets to meet her, with hilarious results.
Steve begins to show a change of heart. He not only agrees to go along with Malcolm to Hollywood without stealing the car, but he also proposes to Terry.
Malcolm spoils the mood by telling them that he no longer has any of his casino winnings, having used it on a gift for Anita. Steve decides to retrieve the gift and they head to Paramount Pictures to locate her. After some back-lot adventures, they find Anita, who agrees to return the gift in exchange for the services of Mr. Bascomb in her next movie. This was the last film that Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin appeared in together. According to Lewis in his autobiography, he and Dean did not speak to each other off camera during the entire film shoot. In addition, Lewis claimed that this is the only one of his films that he has never seen, citing it as too painful to watch.

Russell western TV series episode starring Fess Parker, Jay C. Flippen, Paul Carr and Beverly Garland this is the pilot episode of a suggested TV series titled Russell from about 1960. This is episode 35 of The Forsaken Westerns, an original TV series produced by Westerns On The Web Productions in cooperation with The Westerns Channel. This episode was originally released on April 2 of 2018 on The Westerns Channel. Borden Chase was hired in the early 1950s by United Artists to write a screenplay about Charles M. Russell's life. In July of 1955 United Artists announced Audie Murphy was to star as Charlie Russell. In a movie to be titled The Charles Russell Story. But the project was delayed and never happened. Then in the late 1950's or early 1960's Glenn Ford arrived in Montana scouting locations for the production and he was to star as Charlie. But again the production was stalled and never happened. So as another effort this pilot was made to try to produce a TV series about Charlie Russell. And again a production to be done about Charlie stalled out because the series was not picked up by a sponsor. So this episode never aired on television. This episode is a very fictitious story about Charlie and only has a few things in common with the real life Charles Marion Russell the Cowboy Artist. If you are interested in learning more about the Real Charles M. Russell there are several great books about the Cowboy Artist. The Charles M. Russell Book by Harold McCracken, Charles M. Russell by Frederic G. Renner, The 100 Best Illustrated Letters of Charles M. Russell by Brian W. Dippie, Charles M. Russell Printed Rarities from private collections by Larry Len Peterson, Romance Maker The Watercolors of Charles M. Russell by Rick Stewart and the Massive 400 page Charles M. Russell - Sculptor also by Rick Stewart which was a 5 year project for Rick and is an Amazing in depth look at the artists sculptor work. In this episode Charlie is very much in charge of things in real life Charlie was very young during his days as a cowboy and was called Kid Russell. But true to life Russell is a night herder. Also true to life Charlie draws his artwork on everything. Straying from reality to create excitement the episode makes Charlie a fast gun, Charlie was never known to be a fast gunfighter. But this is a fun enjoyable TV western episode from the most magnificent age of TV Westerns.
