Since I've already covered cyberpunk, I thought I'd make some form of distinction between these two subgenres. Because, as far as I've noticed, they appear to be treated as the same sub-genre. Which is understandable as the two are both closely linked with technology and a particular visual aesthetic.
However, while cyberpunk is all about high tech low life, Tech-Noir, on the other hand, is more to do with the realization that technology is a real-world problem.

A dimly lit bar, a troubled detective drinking scotch straight from the bottle, and a lone saxophone playing in the background. These are the kind of images we associate with noir, although our concept of the genre - for many - comes exclusively from cinema. However, there’s a whole body of fiction that can rightly be described as ‘noir’ as well. It is difficult to describe, but equally engaging and distinctive in style. This video aims to explore what is meant by ‘noir fiction!’

Blending crime drama with social commentary,THE UNFAITHFUL vividly portrayed the harsh realities of the post-World War II marriage and divorce crisis. Following WWII, the American divorce rate surged dramatically, largely fueled by an unprecedented wave of GI divorces.

The Docks is a Neo Noir Short film originally created for the #FilmRiot #OneMinuteChallenge where filmmakers had to make a film that was one minute or less and used music by #Filmstro. Film Riot did a Noir Short Film challenge before, but I managed to miss it! Film noir has always been something of an obsession of mine.

Paper Gunman western TV series episode starring John Smith, Leo Gordon, Scott Forbes, King Donovan, Carol Thurston, James Westerfield, Dabbs Greer, Gloria Rhoads, Guy Way and Pat O'Malley. With Walter Coy as the Narrator. This is an episode of the Frontier series that original aired in 1955 and 1956. The episodes were based on true stories of the American West. This is episode 1 of season 1 of the Frontier series. This is episode 32 of The Forsaken Westerns, an original TV series produced by Westerns On The Web Productions in cooperation with The Westerns Channel. This episode was originally released on March 9 of 2018 on The Westerns Channel. Most of the episodes of Frontier appear to be lost. Back in 2015 the only known existing episode was The Assassin Starring Chuck Connors as Thorpe Henderson (Thorpe is representative of the real life westerner Tom Horn). Westerns On The Web along with The Westerns Channel began searching for more of these episodes, contacting film dealers that specialize in rare films many of the dealers we contacted were unaware of the Frontier series at all but one dealer in Canada told us he has a friend collector in England that may have some of these episodes. As it turned out the man in England had five episodes in his collection Paper Gunman was one of them and that is how this episode was found and released for public viewing on The Westerns Channel, Amazon and now here on the Westerns On The Web's YT channel. What an outstanding find this episode is. A newspaper man (King Donovan) in the west is always looking for a good story and decides instead of looking for a story he decides to create one. This is a dramatic enjoyable TV western episode from the most magnificent age of TV Westerns. The Forsaken Westerns series contains episodes of TV shows that were never broadcast or have not been broadcast in as many as 65 years. Almost lost forever, these rare television film treasures are now being released and uploaded for viewing from the Bob Terry's personal archive's of thousands of western films in his collection. Watch full length western movies and TV shows full episodes on the Westerns On The Web YT channel and make sure to subscribe to be notified when new videos are uploaded. In this gripping crime drama, war buddies Rocky and Dan serve as patrol officers during the night shift, navigating the complexities of law enforcement and their contrasting philosophies—Dan's cynical view of criminals as scum clashes with Rocky's more compassionate approach. Both men are captivated by the alluring radio voice of communicator Kate Mallory, but her reluctance to engage with men in dangerous professions complicates their attraction. When a chance encounter leads them to cross paths with the ruthless racketeer Ritchie Garris, the stakes rise dramatically, and Kate's fears of the violent repercussions may soon become a harsh reality.

The Blue Gardenia is a 1953 American film noir directed by Fritz Lang from a screenplay by Charles Hoffman, based on the novella The Gardenia by Vera Caspary.[1] The film stars Anne Baxter, Richard Conte, and Ann Sothern. An independent production distributed by Warner Bros., The Blue Gardenia – a cynical take on press coverage of a sensational murder case (the Black Dahlia) – was the first installment of Lang's "newspaper noir" film trio, being followed in 1956 by both While the City Sleeps and Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. The song "Blue Gardenia" was written by Bob Russell and Lester Lee and arranged by Nelson Riddle. The director of cinematography for The Blue Gardenia was RKO regular Nicholas Musuraca, then working at Warner Brothers.

A good detective never sleeps. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com counts down our picks for the top 10 film noirs. For this list, since experts fail to agree on a standard definition for the genre, we're limiting our choices to gritty, cynical thrillers and crime dramas from the early-'40s to late-'50s that are shot in black-and-white. Special thanks to our users theyakkoman, jkellis, Jaime Enrique Gutierrez Pérez, Vivek Varghese, Max Feldman, Andrew A. Dennison, robozilla94, iSmiTHDawGx, Philip Folta and walkercr3 for submitting the idea on our Suggestions Page at WatchMojo.com/suggest!
